La Vinia Delois Jennings is a Distinguished Professor in the Humanities and Professor of Twentieth-Century American Literature and Culture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Author of Toni Morrison and the Idea of Africa (2008), Jennings was awarded the Toni Morrison Society Prize for the Best Single-Authored Book on the Nobel-laureate (2008), as well as the College Language Association's Outstanding Scholarship Award (2009). Her 2016 work, Margaret Garner: The Premiere Performances of Toni Morrison's Libretto, received the Toni Morrison Society Book Prize 2015-17 for Best Edited Book on the Nobel-laureate.
