"This book is one of the standard comprehensive texts in critical care medicine. This eighth edition is the most recent version of the book, which was originally released in 1984." -©Doody’s Review Service, 2023, David James Dries, MSE, MD (Regions Hospital) Doody's Score: 5 Stars! Doody's Core Titles® 2022"The Textbook of Critical Care, 8th Edition addresses common critical care conditions in depth, making it a thorough and detailed resource to aid in diagnosing and managing these complex patients. This review provides the perspective of a medical student and an anesthesiologist whose practice is at a quaternary hospital with a substantial patient population requiring critical perioperative care. Written by four experts in the field, the textbook is a well-organized, evidence-based reference that is suitable for trainees, generalists, and critical-care specialists. The textbook is divided into 15 parts, totalling 1,376 pages. It is easy to navigate its substantial volume as it is organized by organ system...The content of the book is clinically relevant and outlines landmark studies...The illustrations and flowcharts are appropriate and clear...This comprehensive textbook provides a wealth of evidence-based information from basic concepts to specific topics, such as transplants, neurologic care, and cardiac critical care. The ease of use of the e-book, combined with its additional reference material, adds substantial benefit to the user. We would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in critical care medicine." --Natalie Vankka, BSc, PhD & Vivian H. Y. Ip, MBChB, FRCA, Springer
