I found it provided a very refreshing and contemporary approach to teaching in FE, recognising that it is a different environment to schools. I particularly liked the way it addresses the commercial aspects of FE teaching, which is often overlooked. It also provides very good links between theory and practice, without getting bogged-down by theorists. - Susan Hobbs, Northern CollegeI particularly like the section on 'virtues' and values - something I have found us discussing more and more lately. The debate over how much of yourself you reveal to students - e-safety etc - impinges on the issue of teacher influence. When we share ideas about what makes a good teacher, so often it's a question of their values. - Sandy Stratford, Lincoln CollegeIt is very easy to dip into. The case studies and the critical thinking activities are very good and will allow for reflection and contextualisation of practice. - Elaine Battams, Barnfield College
