His many books include After the End of Art, Nietzsche as Philosopher, and Art in the Historical Present, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2003, he was awarded the coveted Prix Philosophe.Jonathan Gilmore is assistant professor of philosophy at Yale University. He is the author of The Life of a Style: Beginnings and Endings in the Narrative History of Art.
