Shaon Ray Chaudhuri (Author) Prof Shaon Ray Chaudhuri completed her PhD in Molecular Biology at Calcutta University in 2001. She conducted her Postdoctoral research at Jadavpur University, India (with a DBT PDF in Life Sciences), Humboldt University, Germany (with a DBT Overseas Fellowship in a Niche Area of Biotechnology), and the Technical University of Munich, Germany (with a DST-DAAD Fellowship). She received the Young Scientist Award under the Fast Track Scheme in 2003 and started working as faculty at West Bengal University of Technology (2004 onwards) and Tripura (Central) University (2015 onwards), heading the Microbial Technology Group, which received the Centre of Excellence in Environmental Technology and Management under the FAST Scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2014. Her group specialises in the development of sludge-free microbial wastewater treatment systems and has been recognised for this with various national awards. She has five technologies transferred to the industry, as well as five international (US, China, Bangladesh) and seven Indian granted patents. She has over 70 published papers, over 30 book chapters and two edited books. She has received R&D funds of over INR 9.549 crores to date and has formed the first start-up at Tripura University with financial assistance from BIRAC. Thirteen scholars have graduated with PhD under her supervision.Neha Srivastava (Series Edited By) Neha Srivastava received a PhD in Biotechnology from Department of Molecular and Cellular Engineering, SHIATS, India in 2016 in the area of bioenergy. She works in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, India. She has published more than 28 research articles in peer reviewed journals and has filed 3 patents, 1 technology transfer and edited 7 books. She has many popular social scientific articles in newspapers and has 11 potential deposited microorganisms in her credit. Presently, she is working on bioprocess technology and biofuels production (Microbial screening and enzymes; production and enhancement, biohydrogen production from waste biomass, bioethanol production).
