Joan Fuster i Ortells is a major writer in the Valencian language who contributed to reinvigorate nationalism in Valencia during the Spanish transition to democracy. He coined the term “Països Catalans” to refer to the Catalan-speaking territories. He is also a renowned essayist and storyteller known for his vast thematic breadth and incisiveness. Antonio Cortijo-Rodgers works at the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley where he specializes in formal logic. He is a member of the Center for Catalan Studies (University of California, Santa Barbara)
