Dr Ida Holth Mathiesen is Associate Professor at the University of Stavanger, Norway. A sociologist by training, her research focuses on career guidance, professional practice, policy implementation, and the relationship between policy and everyday professional work. Since 2008, she has worked closely with practitioners, schools and policymakers, exploring how career guidance professionals navigate complex and competing expectations. Her research has contributed to national and Nordic discussions on professionalisation, equity, quality development and policy in career guidance, with a particular interest in how practitioners create meaningful support for people facing uncertainty and change.
