Dimensional Analysis and Scale-up in Chemical Engineering

Contemporary chemical process engineers face complex design and research problems. Temperature-dependent physical properties and non-Newtonian flow behaviour of substances in a process cannot be predicted by numerical analysis. Scaling-up equipment for processing can often only be achieved with partial similarity methods. This textbook introduces dimensional analysis, and theory of similarity and scale-up to 2nd- and 3rd-year undergraduate chemical engineering students. It also provides process engineers with tools for solving design problems which may be too complex for numerical design. with partial similarity methods.
