Beskrivning
This bookpresents compassion as a measurable, teachable, and structurally essentialforce in clinical practice, education, organisational life, and public health. It draws on interdisciplinary research, meta‑analytic evidence, and directexperience in clinical and organisational settings to show how compassion isreceived and how fear and shame can block it. It also examines how systems canfoster compassionate leadership. A central feature of Compassion from Othersis its commitment to multiethnic, multifaith, and culturally pluralperspectives, recognising the many ways compassion is understood and expressedacross communities. Integrating insights from psychiatry, psychology, publichealth, and the medical humanities, it offers an inclusive and culturallysensitive account, written in accessible language, for clinicians, educators, policymakers, researchers, and all readers who view compassion as a foundationof human flourishing and a public health imperative.
