Beskrivning
Carlos Had a Dream charts the remarkable Carlos Carvalhal era at Sheffield Wednesday, which saw him become the first foreign manager in the Owls' long history when he arrived in the summer of 2015. In the months that followed the Portuguese transformed the culture at Hillsborough, turning Wednesday into promotion contenders with a style of football that wowed Owls fans and took them as close to a return to the Premier League as they have been since the turn of the Millennium. It was early in the Dejphon Chansiri ownership era and the Owls played football that reignited belief amongst a fanbase and carried Wednesday to within touching distance of Premier League glory - before it all gradually fell apart. This is the story of that period, told by a man who was at the coalface for every cough and splutter.

Mer information

Dom Howson has spent more than 20 years in sportsjournalism, which is long enough to know better but not long enough to stop. A Huddersfieldnative, he has spent a significant portion of his career immersed in the worldof Sheffield Wednesday - a twist of fate he still can't fully explain, but onehe's grown rather attached to. That affection eventually led to his first book,Carlos Had a Dream.Dom joined The Star in 2009 and was appointed chiefSheffield Wednesday writer in 2014, quickly discovering that covering the clubis less a job and more a lifestyle choice. His reporting - later continued at YorkshireLive - spanned takeover sagas, managerial changes, late night transfers, epicfan forums and pre-season trips that occasionally offered more sun than S6.In 2025, he stepped away from the daily churn of the newsroomto focus on freelance writing and long-form storytelling, deciding it wasfinally time to turn years of Wednesday-related chaos, drama and unexpectedplot twists into something more permanent than a matchday live blog. A gymenthusiast and all-round sport junkie, Dom lives near Stockport with his wifeAlice.
