Boxers of Wales, The: Cardiff

Gareth Jones is a journalist who has been writing and broadcasting on boxing in Wales for more than 30 years, including over 15 years as Boxing Correspondent of the South Wales Echo, and a longer period as Welsh Boxing Correspondent of Boxing News. He was born and lives in Cardiff.

"Some of the greatest boxers in Britain have come out of Cardiff and this book is a must-read for fight fans, whether you're Welsh or not." Colin Hart, The Sun "Everybody in boxing knows the big names, the men that won titles and made the money. This book is not just about the famous fighters, it's about the forgotten heroes of the Welsh ring. This book tells all their stories and it is long overdue." Steve Bunce, Boxing Broadcaster and Journalist "A compelling and fascinating study. Although we are familiar with champions like Robinson, Erskine, Petersen and Driscoll, the author has uncovered some hidden gems - the extraordinary and forgotten stories of Fred Dyer, 'The Singing Boxer', Albert Love and Albert Barnes, to name but three." Claude Abrams, Editor, Boxing News "Boxing has played a great part in the culture of Wales and now, thanks to former Echo boxing columnist Gareth Jones, the capital city has its own pugilistic history." Brian Lee, Cardiff historian
