Tom Wood was one of Scotland’s most senior and experiencedpolice officers, an authority on serious and violent crime and the policing ofmajor events. Latterly he was Deputy Chief Constable and Director of Operationsof Lothian and Borders Police. He is a graduate of Edinburgh University and theFBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia. Tom currently lives in Edinburgh. Sinceleaving the police, Tom has worked in Alcohol and Drug Strategy, Adult andChild Protection and carried out Independent Serious Case and Homicide Reviews.His book, Ruxton: The First ModernMurder, was shortlisted for the 2021 Scottish National Book AwardsHe is now a regularcolumnist with The Scotsman and writes extensively on crime andjustice matters.
