Cancer survivors are returning to the workplace in higher numbers than ever before. This is a positive outcome of the “war on cancer”, however, many of these cancer survivors face the possibility of illness- or treatment-related complications; employer discrimination or harassment; and other serious concerns. Michael Feuerstein, Ph.D., is Professor of Public Health in the Departments of Medical and Clinical Psychology and Preventive Medicine and Biometrics, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland. He is also Director of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at that institution. In addition, he is Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Behavioral Medicine, at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. Dr. Feuerstein is editor-in-chief of Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation and Journal of Cancer Survivorship, as well as editor of Handbook of Cancer Survivorship. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, the American Psychological Association, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine, and a Member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the Association for Advancement of Behavioral Therapy, the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the New York Academy of Sciences.
