Way It Is

Retrospective collection of William Stafford's work, celebrating the life and writing of one of America's most important poets. Recipient of a National Book Award and Oregon's Poet Laureate, Stafford engaged in a lifetime of writing, habitually composing in the hours before dawn. Remembered both for his outstanding poetry and his continued generosity towards other writers and readers, Stafford is rightly considered as a member of the first family of modern poetry, comfortably taking a place alongside such luminaries as Robert Frost and W. Carlos Williams.
