Khalid Lyamlahy, born in Rabat, Morocco in 1986, is an Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at the University of Chicago, where he teaches North African literature. He completed a PhD in Francophone Studies at Oxford, and is the author of Nostalgic Rebels: Politics, Aesthetics, and Selfhood in Postcolonial Morocco (Liverpool University Press, 2025). His first novel, Un roman étranger, was published in 2017. Venice Requiem is his first translation in English.
