Er war Direktor des Programms »Liberale Demokratie« beim Think-Tank »Zentrum Liberale Moderne«. Rainald Manthe hat über transnationale Treffen sozialer Bewegungen – die Weltsozialforen – promoviert und schreibt regelmäßig zu Fragen der Demokratieentwicklung.
