'Taylor's Touring Shakespeare is an important book which offers an authoritative account of the way in which Shakespeare was used to advance the cause of British cultural diplomacy in the context of the end of empire and the advance of the Cold War. It is a masterful study, grounded in new archival work and providing fresh political and cultural insights on every page. A wonderful achievement.'
