Total quality management describes a management approach to longterm success through customer satisfaction. In a TQM effort, all members of an organization participate in improving processes, products, services, and the culture in which they work. Total quality management (TQM) has far-reaching implications for the management of human resources. It emphasizes self-control, autonomy, and creativity among employees and calls for greater active cooperation rather than just compliance. Indeed, it is becoming a maxim of good management that human factors are the most important dimension in quality and productivity improvement.
