Dr. Gartstein has been studying temperament and cross-cultural differences for the past 20 years. The cross-cultural emphasis in part reflects her own experience as an immigrant, arriving in the US with her family as a child. Samuel P. Putnam is professor and chair of the Psychology Department at Bowdoin College, and Co-Chair of Undergraduate Research for the International Congress of Infant Studies (ICIS). His research concerns the measurement and structure of temperament, and how nature interacts with nurture to shape individual differences in children.
