Mike Timms was born in England and spent his childhood in Kenya and England. He attended Trinity College Dublin and went on to work in mental health and rehabilitation. Prior to retirement, he was the Academic Director in the Centre for Disability Studies within the School of Psychology at University College Dublin. His prose writing has been broadcast on the RTÉ radio shows Sunday Miscellany and The Living Word. Two of his plays have also been broadcast by RTÉ Radio Drama and, in the 1990s, he performed a one man show about his boarding school experience at the Dublin, Windsor and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals as well as the Westport Arts Festival. After his first Camino to Santiago de Compostela in 2011, he has taken many other Caminos from Lisbon, Portugal and A Coruña as well as pilgrim paths in England, Ireland and Brittany. To Walk the Way is his first book.
