This book provides an unparalleled explanation of the management of large goiters, which are currently encountered only rarely in the U.S. The book is intended to "bridge a gap between the huge platform of literature available about thyroid surgery and the practical working reality." It meets its objectives and provides detailed technical tips about the management of huge goiters, and therefore thyroid surgeons and trainees in thyroid surgery who operate for massive multinodular goiters may find this book useful, who might encounter these cases only rarely. The author and contributors are all credible authorities. The book follows a logical plan, beginning with history, surgical anatomy, clinical and imaging assessment, and pathology. It then segues into medical and surgical management. Lavishly illustrated with color photographs and a few drawings, the wealth of information, and clinical pearls about management of advanced disease is a huge plus.Carol Scott-Conner, MD, PhD, MBA(University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics)
