'The most important theological developments for churches, inter-religious dialogues, and our common global humanity do not arise from developed countries. Since the 1976 founding of the Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians, the future of healthy, communal interaction among and between people, the environment, and the cosmos continues to unfold from the Third World or developing nations. Joseph has written a masterful, even magisterial, account of the hope and challenges of EATWOT and how we have to heed its message in order for humankind and all there is to survive in the twenty-first century.' - Dwight N. Hopkins, University of Chicago Divinity School, USA, and author of Being Human: Race, Culture, and Religion 'M. P. Joseph retells the story of the Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians brilliantly. He bursts the myth of globalization as characterized by disappearing borders and instead associates it with new, higher and stronger walls. This is the best analytical history of an organization that I have read in my over twenty years as an academic. For any theologian, ethicist, or scholar of global economics and politics interested in addressing marginalization and dehumanization of the poor, this book is a must-read.' - Eunice Kamaara, Professor of Religion, Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya, and author of Gender Relations, Youth Sexual Activity and HIV/AIDS: A Kenyan Experience 'The time could not be more appropriate for this rich insider account of the theological traditions of the churches of the South under the aegis of the Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians. In this book one of the leading theologians of Asia, M P Joseph, describes the continuing struggles of the poor and marginalized in the developing world against the ideology of 'money-theism.' In his passionate and incisive writing he displays the power of prophetic critique to unmask the powers overseeing the privatization of the common wealth of all the peoples of the earth and steering the global market towards ecocide.' - Michael S. Northcott, University of Edinburgh, UK
