All dogs love a good story and most of them are great story tellers as well. The Squirrel King is the first in a series of books that are the fairytales that older dogs tell to younger ones. In this first story, Abby has come to live with Molly and her human family. Abby is very young and Molly is much older, but not yet elderly. To get Abby to fall asleep one night, Molly begins to tell her the story of how the very first dogs met the very first squirrels. This is the story of The Squirrel King: Prince Ethan and Princess Sophia were just out playing one morning when they ran into a strange small creature sitting up in a tree. Prince Stephen was just out searching for a gift for his father when he looked down from his perch high in an ancient oak and saw the two giant animals below him. A sneeze and a falling acorn then sets off a chain of events that bring the Kingdom of Dogs and the Kingdom of Squirrels to the brink of war.
