David Buisseret graduated from Cambridge University in 1964, and has since taught at universities in the West Indies and the United States. He currently teaches at the University of Texas at Arlington. Among his publications are: From Sea Charts to Satellite Images: Interpreting North American History Through Maps, University of Chicago Press, 1990; The Mapmakers' Quest: Depicting New Worlds in Renaissance Europe, OxfordUniversity Press, 2003; Creolization in the Americas, Texas A&M Press, 2000; Jamaica in 1687, University of West Indies Press, 2006. He also the serves as the editor of Terra Incognitae, the journal of the Society of the History of Discoveries.
