The Odyssey

Design legend Seymour Chwast lends his "diabolically witty, devilishly expressive" style [NPR] to Homer's ancient classic.

Seymour Chwast, an icon of the graphic design world, has delighted audiences with his adaptations of classic tales from Dante to Chaucer. Now he turns to Homer's Odyssey.

Following his victory in the Trojan War, Odysseus is desperate to get home. With help from the powers-that-be on Mount Olympus, he journeys far and wide, facing off against the Cyclops, the Lotus-Eaters, the cannibal Laestrygonians, the Sirens, the monster Scylla (beside the whirlpool Charybdis), Poseidon, Athena, Zeus and more.... Featuring bold black, white, and blue illustrations in Chwast's signature style and imbued with sly humor, The Odyssey brings us a dazzling portrayal of a tale as old as time.
