Mer information
Author Maggie Shaw creates her stories from her many and varied life experiences. A teenage runaway who made good after overcoming depression caused by undiagnosed ASD, Maggie writes as one who has walked the walk in recovery and spiritual development. Her degrees in science, divinity and church music, and her career as a Mental Health Dietitian, give a solid framework to the exciting adventure stories she loves to tell. The Scottish hills and Lakeland fells where her grandparents farmed often feature as landscapes in her work.Maggie is also a church musician, composer and song writer. Many of her songs and poems are inspired by the stories she writes. This is the sixth book Maggie has published through micropublisher Eregendal. Her other titles are The Vision and Beyond (2018), Diviner's Nemesis I: Avenger (2019), Diviner's Nemesis II - Retribution (2020), The Eagle and The Butterfly (2020) and The Last Thursday Ritual in Little Piddlington (2021). She has broadcast music and short stories on Radio Carlisle, Cat Radio, and Red Shift Radio; and contributed articles to The St Raphael's Guild Chrism, The Chronicle, The Church of England Newspaper, and Soul and Spirit Magazine. Online, Maggie publishes through ArtSwarm, YouTube, Sound Cloud, Facebook and the Eregendal website www.eregendal.com .Maggie lives in Cheshire with her husband Alan and their cat Tarby.
Recensioner i media
Anna Turowska: The lead character Gendal is very likable, intelligent, witty and pious. He is a loyal friend who tends to put the well-being of others above his own. He is just easy to like. I liked the development of Count Bertram's character. I think he makes a wise and compassionate leader. I also enjoyed meeting the Widow Astra. I still have mixed feelings about Cara Rea and Widow Astra. (The author does) a great job of making some characters despicable, like the Condottiero and Nicolaus. Some characters I liked from the start, like Friar Fadrique. The world ...created is believable. I can see how knowledgeable (the writer is) about the time period, the language, the customs. I loved the religious elements a lot as well. ; Roy Butler: The compassion for the poor and underprivileged shines through this book. Though the story is set in the 14th Century, it is a real indictment of our present day government and politics.
