One hundred years after the publication of his first major work, Ernest Hemingway remains an important author. Michael Thurston is the author of Making Something Happen: American Political Poets between the World Wars (2001), The Underworld Descent in Twentieth-Century Poetry: From Pound and Eliot to Heaney and Walcott (2009), and (with Nigel Alderman) Reading Postwar British and Irish Poetry (2013). He is the editor of the Norton Critical Edition of The Sun Also Rises. His work has been supported by the Mellon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
