When Emma, a young ballet student, loses her pink ballet slippers, she is worried about having to wear black ones that "only boys wear." When her ballet teacher, Miss Mary, learns that Emma is upset, she finds this the perfect opportunity to teach her students a valuable lesson-one not about ballet, but about life.
