Guowen Shang is a professor in Chinese Studies at the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Bergen, Norway. He earned his Ph.D. in linguistics from the National University of Singapore in 2011. His research interests include teaching Chinese as a second/foreign language, sociolinguistics, and language planning and policy. His publications appear in international journals such as Language and Linguistics, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, International Journal of Multilingualism, Language and Communication, English Today, Current Issues in Language Planning, International Journal of Applied Linguistics, and Journal of Language and Politics. He is the author of Linguistic Landscape Studies: Theories and Practice (The Commercial Press, 2023), and co-author of The Linguistic Landscape in China: Commodification, Image Construction, Contestations, and Negotiations (Springer, 2024).Chun Zhang, M.Sc., Ph.D., is an associate professor of Chinese at the School of Society and Culture, University of Aarhus, Denmark. She obtained her BA from the Department of Foreign Languages, East China Normal University in Shanghai, her M.Sc. in IT, Language and Learning from University of Aarhus, and her Ph.D. in Philosophy and Learning from University of Aalborg University, Denmark. Her teaching and research interests encompass Chinese applied linguistics, language usage and translation, second language acquisition, and teacher education. Her publications appear in many international journals such as International Journal of Lexicography, International Journal of Chinese Language Teaching, Sprogforum, and Global Chinese.
