Dr. John R. (Jay) Nuckols is a CSU Emeritus Professor of Environmental Health Sciences and Principal of JRN-Environmental Health Sciences, Ltd. He holds BS, MS, and PhD Engineering Degrees, and has 40+ years of experience in basic and applied research concerning contaminant fate/transport modeling, including extensive studies related to environment and health impacts. In 1992, Dr. Nuckols established the Colorado State University Environmental Health Advanced Systems Laboratory, a successful entrepreneurial platform for integration of earth, engineering, and health sciences in spatial data systems design and application to health risk analyses. As visiting scientist at the US National Cancer Institute (2002-2010) and Fogarty International Center (2009-2011), he fostered geographic-based approaches to calculation of exposure metrics for environmental epidemiologic studies. His capstone professional ambition is to develop a web-based research, mentoring, and consultation platform designed to assist global education and implementation of local and regional health impact assessment and prevention.
