Syntax of Research

Dr Nazim S. Gruda is a senior researcher in the life sciences with a long-standing focus on horticulture, plant sciences, and applied agricultural research, particularly in sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. He has authored and co-authored more than 400 scientific publications, including over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and 37 books and book chapters, indexed in major databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar (ORCID: 0000-0002-2663-1594). This extensive authorship has given me a comprehensive and practical understanding of the full scientific publication process. His professional experience spans academia, government-related research environments, and international organizations, allowing me to connect scientific knowledge with policy and practice. I have contributed as an expert and evaluator to European Union research activities and have been involved in project- and book-related work with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. In Germany, he has held senior roles within agricultural institutions, including the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, gaining insight into research funding priorities, evaluation standards, and innovation pathways. Currently Dr Gruda serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Vegetable Science (Taylor & Francis), Editor of the Encyclopedia of Vegetable Sciences (Elsevier), and Advisory Board Member of a journal published by CABI. Through these roles—as author, reviewer, handling editor, and editor-in-chief— he has developed a deep understanding of editorial decision-making, peer-review ethics, quality control, and the standards required for authoritative scientific books.
