'An original and distinctive contribution ... an especially useful reference work due to its global approach and analysis. It embraces all aspects, from the institutional framework which has been built up on an international scale in recent decades to the epistemological bases for the management of the coasts and the seas ... not only worthy of consideration by the various disciplines that deal with marine quesions but is also of interest to the academic world and managers and politicians alike.'- International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law
