He joined (chief-chemist) UniLever Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark (1959–1966). Later, he was appointed associate professor (1966–1985) and research professor in 1985 (Technical University, Copenhagen; Nordic Science Foundation), and was then appointed, in 1990 (retired in 1999), to the School of Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen, as professor in physical chemistry.
