Studying for your Social Work Apprenticeship

This book is the first to support apprentices in navigating their journey and developing the knowledge and skills necessary to become confident social workers. The apprenticeship learning journey offers a very different pathway to becoming a social worker compared to the traditional routes. Students are expected to get to grips with multiple frameworks and standards, whilst juggling both academic study alongside their job, and managing their wellbeing in an increasingly demanding profession. This book serves as a core, concise text for social work apprentices. It supports apprentice learners to develop their understanding of the role of an apprentice social worker and their critical and reflection skills. It specifically focuses on apprenticeship requirements such as developing maths and english skills and knowledge acquisition and application of British values. The book acknowledges the challenges of being a social work apprentice learner and includes a chapter that focuses on the management of wellbeing, and juggling practice alongside academic study. In addition to focusing on the apprenticeship standard, the book makes reference to Social Work England standards (2019) and BASW's PCF framework (2018) throughout.
