Statistical Ecology

This textbook for beginning graduate students in a range of disciplines explains the formulae, techniques, and methods used in field ecology. It focuses on ecological data, from sampling through modelling, for single-species populations. Examples come from real situations in pest management, forestry, wildlife biology, plant protection and environmental studies, as well as from classical ecology. All students and professionals using this book should acquire a strong foundation in the statistical methods employed in modern ecological research, and they will be more fully aware of the strengths and possible weaknesses of the procedures they employ. The textbook is accompanied by a floppy disk containing the ECOSTAT software developed by the authors. This book should be of interest to graduate students taking courses in statistical ecology.
