Spatial Statistical Methods for Geography

Peter A. Rogerson is SUNY (State University of New York) Distinguished Professor in the Department of Geography at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York, USA. He also holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Biostatistics.

• Chapter 1: Introduction to spatial statistical methods for geographyChapter 2: A quick review of some key material from introductory statisticsChapter 3: Selected measures for descriptive spatial statistical analysisChapter 4: Statistical inference and spatial patternsChapter 5: Global testsChapter 6: Local testsChapter 7: Tests for the detection of clustering: scan testsChapter 8: Spatial means, spatial models, and spatial regression

This book provides a lively introduction into spatial statistics. Several test statistics are presented and discussed from a traditional statistical point of departure. I can recommend the book in particular to quantitative geographers interested in spatial statistics.
