"This is a very impressive book! I’m particularly struck with how Professor Ang is able to discuss quite complicated matters succinctly and insightfully. Finally we have a book on SEATO that is based on new insights!"Odd Arne Westad, Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs, and Director of International Security Studies, Yale University, USA"Ang Cheng Guan demonstrates the craft of a historian in his newest book, The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization, balancing meticulousness and concision…"Harish C. Mehta, Independent Scholar"The Southeast Asia Treaty Organisation not only fills an important gap in the existing and somewhat limited literature on SEATO. It is also a much-welcome addition to the large body of works on the cold war in Asia. As such, it deserves to be read by international historians as well as IR scholars working on alliance formation and alliance politics."Andre Benvenuti, Associate Professor in International Relations, University of New South Wales, Australia"This book is—and will remain in the years ahead—an essential resource for scholars and practitioners of Asian security."Iain D. Henry, Senior Lecturer, Australian National University’s Strategic and Defence Studies Centre"The Southeast Asian Treaty Organisation reminds us that a good, well-researched piece of classic diplomatic history is both still very necessary and a highly enjoyable read."Hoang Minh Vu, Fulbright University Vietnam
