In 2015, long-time friends Pat Conway and Jim O’Brien founded Smokin’ Soul in Co. Wexford. What began as a shared passion quickly evolved into one of Ireland’s most respected live-fire businesses, encompassing cookery courses, catering, fabrication, consultancy and the annual Feast of Fire festival.Pat leads the day-to-day direction of the business, but his greatest passion remains education. Over the years he has introduced thousands of people to live-fire cooking, helping everyone from complete beginners to professional chefs develop confidence around fire. Meanwhile, Jim, a natural problem-solver with a lifelong interest in fabrication and mechanics, is responsible for much of the engineering, innovation and practical know-how that sits behind the business.Whether they’re in the workshop, teaching a course or cooking for hundreds of people at a festival, the Smokin’ Soul philosophy remains the same: use great ingredients, respect the process and never lose sight of the fact that food is ultimately about people.@smokin_soul.ie
