From the book reviews: "It is not only a very complete interdisciplinary analysis of the region, but also a very user-friendly 'handbook' for anyone with a shipping, commercial, legal, scientific, or policy-oriented interest in one of the least-studied regions of the world. ... The book is richly illustrated with a number of maps and other figures ... . This book will be required reading for anyone with an interest in Arctic development generally and in Arctic shipping operations specifically."
