Sheila has a busy day ahead!She eats breakfast, reads with her baby brother Patrick, plays with her dolls, visits the Pope’s Cross in Phoenix Park, spends time at the playground, and helps care for the horses before settling down for bed.Through a series of engaging photographs, Sheila’s Busy Day offers a warm and authentic glimpse into the everyday life of a young girl from the Irish Traveller community. Celebrating Traveller identity, family and tradition, the story weaves cultural details – including Sheila’s St Philomena chord, Traveller jewellery, and cherished family customs – naturally into day-to-day adventures that children everywhere willrecognise and relate to.This charming picture book provides an inclusive and accessible windowinto Traveller life, celebrating the diversity of Irish culture.Co-produced with Pavee Point charity and funded by the Department of Children, Diversity and Equality.
