'Sex Crime, Third edition is a fully updated version of this already key text. Looking at sex offending and society from a number of angles, it includes the relevant law, criminal justice responses and how we can protect the most vulnerable. This will continue to be a valuable text for practitioners, policymakers and academics and I encourage all who have an interest in this field to read and digest.' - Karen Harrison, Senior Lecturer in Law, Law School, University of Hull, UK 'A must-read book for all students seeking a broad understanding of the responses to sex crimes in modern society. Terry Thomas's book offers a clear and readable presentation of the social, historical, political, legal and law enforcement issues in dealing with sexual offending. An invaluable guide or supplementary text for sex crimes modules or courses.' - Sarah Kingston, Lecturer in Criminology, The Law School, University of Lancaster, UK'As public sensitivity surrounding sex crimes and sex offenders is at unprecedented levels, this comprehensive text provides an urgently needed contribution to the debate. The unemotional and matter-of-fact exploration of laws and sentencing, policing and security, victims and protection, and offenders and rehabilitation offers both foundational knowledge, as well as in-depth analysis. Terry Thomas has written an indispensable companion for students and researchers, practitioners and politicians, that combines accessibility with meticulous research.' - Susanne Karstedt, Professor at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Griffith University, Australia, and visiting Professor, School of Law, University of Leeds, UK
