Mer information
Beyond her distinguished legal career, Kaye Courington is deeply committed to community service, serving on the boards of the LA/MS Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Louise S. McGehee School, the Newcomb Institute Advisory Council, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. She brings her passion for storytelling and love for animals to her debut book, Scrim: A New Orleans Story of Resilience and Rescue chronicling Scrim’s journey through the heart of New Orleans. In a testament to her dedication to animal welfare, all proceeds from her royalties will be donated to rescue organizations such as Zeus’s Rescue and the Humane Society of Louisiana. Originally from Savannah, Kaye has called New Orleans home for over forty years. Aileen Bennett is an illustrator, writer, and award-winning speaker. She is the author and illustrator of A Little Book About Fire (Susan Schadt Press), and is also the illustrator of Lila Said No, Dog Island, Lila Duray: A Collection of Delectable Poems, and The Little Book of King Cake. She is originally from London, England, and has lived in the United States for twenty years. Happily married to an American, when she isn't traveling, Aileen works in her studio with the assistance of a white dog called Mr. Blue. She has an insatiable curiosity, bulletproof enthusiasm, and a slight obsession with surfing. She lives in Louisiana.
Recensioner i media
"Scrim, as someone along the way named him, is also a living, panting embodiment of the spirit of New Orleans: He, like the city, kept on going despite it all." - Rick Rojas, The New York Times"He is arguably the Big Easy’s most notorious fugitive — the scruffy muse of a zillion memes, fan art, T-shirts, custom Christmas cards, a 'Good Morning America' segment and at least eight tattoos. He’d leaped from Cheramie’s roof four weeks earlier in his most daring escape yet and dashed right into traffic." - The Washington Post "For many, Scrim and the team that rescued him became a symbol of perseverance and hope, inspiring a community that rallied around him." - Hannah Levitan, The Times-Picayune"Louisiana's most famous fugitive dog, who has frequently escaped the life of domesticated comfort to live as a stray on the streets of New Orleans, has finally been captured yet again. Scrim, a scruffy off-white free-spirited pup, has become a local celebrity for his frantic runaway tactics and his unwavering resilience during his great-escapes. On Tuesday, news emerged that the three-year-old pooch was captured in perfect health in Mid-City after being at one with the streets for months." -Daily Mail
