Schatten – Ombre

“Schatten – Ombre” is a dialogue of old and new works by the artist Wolfgang Gäfgen. A play of shadows develops between pure form and narrative content. On 52 pages, the essence of the two “least colorful” colors is traced – black and white. On the right-hand sides of each page are paper cuts from the years 1995 – 1998. They are juxtaposed with pictorial responses from 2019, which were created in the original size of the publication especially for this artist’s book. Hand-signed artist edition, 200 copies.
