Dr. Stefania Casagrande is Principal Investigator in the Max Planck Institute of Biological Intelligence’s Department of Evolutionary Physiology. She obtained her PhD from the University of Parma and conducted her post-doctoral research with the Association Ornis Italica and the University of Parma. Her research focuses on eco-physiology and development of avian species. Specifically, Dr. Casagrande studies complex aspects of bird stress physiology, reproductive behavior, and their interactions with environmental pressures. She has been a board member of the Flanders Research Foundation Research Funding Panel and currently acts as associate editor of the Journal of Avian Biology. Dr. Kate Buchanan is Full Professor at Deakin University’s School of Life and Environmental Sciences. She obtained her BSc in Zoology from the University of Glasgow and her PhD from the Royal Holloway University of London. Her research focuses on avian behavioral ecology, spanning topics from sexual selection to environmental stress impacts on songbirds. Dr. Buchanan is broadly interested in bird signaling behavior, development, and conservation, and she has served as Editor-in-Chief for the journal Emu Austral Ornithology for 14 years. Dr. Stephen Pruett-Jones is Associate Professor at the University of Chicago's Department of Ecology and Evolution. He obtained his MSc in Zoology from Brigham Young University and his PhD in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Pruett-Jones' research encompasses sexual selection, evolution of mating systems, communication, population biology, and introduced species, using birds as his study taxon.
