Himanshu Prabha Ray is a Research Fellow and Tutor at Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, Oxford, and was the Honorary Professor, Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich. She was the first Chairperson of the National Monuments Authority, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi from 2012 to 2015 and as Professor has taught at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi until 2012.Her research interests include Maritime History and Archaeology of the Indian Ocean, the History of Archaeology in South and Southeast Asia and the Archaeology of Religion in Asia. She is the Editor of the Routledge Series on Archaeology and Religion in South Asia.
