'This global perspective on rural policing and rural crime exposes the complex structural and economic factors that shape both, and reminds the reader that an international perspective can enhance our understanding of local issues. The book focuses on rural issues, but it provides insights applicable to agencies of all sizes.' Ralph Weisheit, llinois State University, USA '... this book is generally a fine contribution to a neglected field and it should serve to stimulate further research. In their concise and well-written concluding chapter, the editors make a virtue of the range of approaches adopted, from empirical descriptions to theorized interpretations. It is hard to argue against that tactic and it does make the book varied and interesting to read...' Policing 'Rural Policing and Policing the Rural is a worthy addition to the rural studies literature. It reviews the current state of rural crime research and sets an agenda for future endeavours in which the space and place of rural regions is central.' Geographical Research
