Recensioner i media
"There are diverse conceptions of the idea of Zimbabwe, but The Routledge Handbook of Contemporary Zimbabwe is a rare scholarly offering. It re-dynamises the idea of Zimbabwe, moving it beyond a mere geographical entity to a contested and evolving concept, an analytical framework, and a method. In doing so, it broadens debates on nationhood, governance, the ontology of the Zimbabwean nation, and the transformation of a postcolonial society in crisis. [...] The Handbook is thus, a compelling decolonial archive for understanding how Zimbabwe has been imagined, contested, and continues to be reconfigured. It is an important scholarly resource that will enrich debates not just within Zimbabwean studies, but beyond Zimbabwe, while offering readers fresh conceptual tools for engaging with the intricacies of Zimbabwe's evolving national narrative."Pauline Mateveke Kazembe, Senior Lecturer, Department of Languages, Literature and culture, University of Zimbabwe and Co-Editor, Matatu Journal of African Literary and Cultural Studies."With 41 chapters by over 50 contributors, this book is a tour de force that unmasks every relevant and meaningful contemporary development in Zimbabwe, leaving nothing unaddressed. Ndlovu-Gatsheni, Ruhanya, Chitando and Mlambo have outdone themselves by assembling leading experts on every conceivable subject related to Zimbabwe, ranging from identity and exclusion to religion, gender, governance, economy, politics, media, land, and climate, among others. A must-read and a significant contribution to knowledge for scholars and anyone else with a keen interest in Zimbabwe."Siphosami Malunga, Human Rights Lawyer and Governance Expert.
