I really liked the selection of non-fiction and fiction extracts that were chosen. The fiction extracts were all accessible and easy to understand, with lots of footnotes to explain important and key terms. They provided a clear explanation of the theme (e.g. family) in the 19th century. These were then backed up well by the non-fiction extracts, which showed the themes of the fiction extracts occurring in real life.
