Avinash Kumar teaches at the Centre for Informal Sector and Labour Studies, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. His research interests include the political economy of labour, informality, migration and movements of resistance. Aaron Schneider is Leo Block Chair and professor in the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs, University of Denver, USA. His work focuses on the intersection of wealth and power in the Global South, with an emphasis on public finance as a window into the political economy of development and democracy.

Resisting Agribusiness in the Global South advances the core values of the Landless Worker Movement (MST, for its initials in Portuguese), such as "Popular Agrarian Reform." With popular agrarian reform, we propose to reorganize land use and distribution so that land fulfills its social function: producing food, generating decent work, and benefiting communities, while prioritizing agroecology and ensuring the population has access to healthy food. Resisting Agribusiness in the Global South further advances MST principles of "Rural Education" - valuing local knowledge, culture, and ways of life, while simultaneously contributing to the creation of scientific knowledge for the benefit of humanity.
