He's unshaven, his hat is ragged, his boots are tied together with leather thongs, and he wears a barely recognizable Union officer's shell jacket missing most of its buttons. He wouldn't know what to say if you asked him where he got the blue jacket. He can't remember. He doesn't know if Dane is his first or his last name.
